FAQs - Pre OTA Launch
Q : Shall the customer consider anything when conducting the OTA update?
A : For a stable update, customer should remove any connected USB drive before pressing the 'Start' button
Q : When the engine is OFF customer can press the 'Start' button in order to begin the update. Shall users wait in the car until the installation is finished?
A : Customer can leave the vehicle during the update. The infotainment system will proceed with the update and
it will turn off once it's completed and the customer will receive a confirmation via the Kia Connect app

Q : What is OTA updates?
A : OTA (Over The Air) Updates enables the vehicle to download and install new maps and infotainment software wirelessly
Q : What will happen to the free 7 Year Map Update?
A : The free 7 Years of map update promise will remain intact after the OTA updates introduction. With OTA Updates,
Kia is just proposing an additional way to keep map and software updated
Q : How often is a new software released?
A : New maps and software are usually released twice a year
Q : How does the update take place?
A : The download of the map and software as well as the installation of the map happens in the background, which means
that the customer can still use all AVNT functions while this process is taking place. The finalization of the sofustftware
installation happens in the foreground, disabling in this case the use of the center screen during that time. This means
that features such as navigation, parking or radio, among others, will not be available during this period
Q : What are the main components of the OTA update?
A : The OTA update consists of the Map and Software updates.
1) Incremental TomTom map update of European countries and Russia;
2) Infotainment software update: new services within Kia Connect (e.g. sports feature, calendar link, etc.); smartphone
replication improvements, voice recognition updates, Graphic User Interface features (e.g.: new fonts and colours), etc
Q : How many updates are included?
A : Two different updates following the same release than current Kia Regular Updates: first of the year happens between
April and May approximately, the second one will happen between October and November approximately
Q : Which are the vehicles targeted for OTA updates?
A : Model Year 22 vehicles, sold from May 2021, and beyond are eligible to receive OTA updates. All vehicles before MY22 will
not be able to benefit from OTA updates
Q : What if the vehicle doesn't have Kia Connect activated when the OTA update is taking place?
A : Vehicle will not be able to enjoy Kia Connect or OTA updates for maps and software
Q : What if the vehicle hasn't the latest base-software installed?
A : Customer will need to visit the Navigator Updater portal and install the latest version available. This base software is the
enabler for the Over The Air updates to happen
Q : How can the customer get the base-software?
A : The Navigator Updater portal is the tool for the customer to get the base-software
Q : What if the customer missed the first OTA update because the car didn't have Kia Connect activated or the latest base-software installed?
A : The OTA eligible vehicles that have missed one OTA update will need to:
1) Activate Kia Connect;
2) Download and install the latest base software in the vehicle;
Then, the server will be able to target vehicles for a period if 7 years
Q : How can customers have OTA updates after they consumed their 2 free OTA updates?
A : Within the subscription platform that will be embedded in the Kia Connect app

A : The subscription to OTA updates will be available via the subscription platform to be integrated in the Kia Connect app
